“Soulmates are not found, they are truly created.” – Paul C Brunson, “Finding Love”

As one door closes, another opens – a mantra I’ve come to live by. A year ago, my long-term relationship ended, leaving me to navigate the unfamiliar terrain of single life. Time has been a salve, offering healing and fresh perspectives. I’ve found greater happiness and a deeper connection with those around me. Yet, the question looms: when will I venture back into the realm of romance? Fear held me back, the scars of past heartbreaks serving as a deterrent. I vowed never to return to the world of dating apps, convinced they had little to offer beyond fleeting encounters. That is until I stumbled upon “Finding Love,” a book that challenged my preconceptions and inspired a new approach.

Insight 1: Redefining Key Selection Criteria

Before diving into the dating app fray, I meticulously outlined my selection criteria. No longer fixated on superficial attributes like height or ethnicity, I focused on core values and lifestyle compatibility. My checklist included:

  • Relationship Type: Seeking long-term commitment.
  • - Commitment Type: Preferring monogamy.
  • - Fitness Level: Moderately fit, to grow old healthily together.
